Elks’ Home

Information

In other towns across America, the Elks' homes were sedate places for gentlemen to stay. In Reno, the Elks' Home of chapter 597 of BPOE (Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks) played another role--providing divorce housing for visiting Elks from 1904  until it was destroyed in the Sierra Street gas explosion on February 5, 1957.
