Jack Dempsey is flanked by his attorney, Robert E. Burns, and the witness to his residency, James McKay. Judge Moran heard the case. Dempsey came to Reno from Los Angeles in April of 1931 for a divorce from his wife Estelle Taylor, at her instigation. He rented the Steinmiller house on California Ave. for $1,000 a month during his stay. He lived in Reno during later years.
