In between his undergraduate and graduate education, Jim Hulse was a reporter at the Nevada State Journal in the mid-1950s. While there, he learned from the pros about covering celebrity divorce, making some money on the side as a stringer for east coast papers. As a long-time Reno resident, he got to know many people who were involved in the divorce trade.
